Rock the Vote Hosts Voter Registration Booth at the Global Citizen Festival Action Summit

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 25th, 2014) Rock the Vote, the largest non-profit and non-partisan organization in the United States building the political power of young people, is hitting the streets of New York City to register Millennials and first-time voters at the Global Citizen Festival Action Summit. Amidst efforts in over 30 states to restrict voting rights, Rock the Vote’s efforts at the Action Summit are aimed at encouraging New Yorkers, especially young people, to register to vote and come out to the polls for the midterm elections on November 4th.

The Global Citizen Festival Action Summit, held in Washington Square Park, is geared towards building the identity of young people as Global Citizens committed to taking action. In addition to the voter registration drive, Rock the Vote’s efforts at the Action Summit will include creative activations fusing pop culture and politics, as well as information regarding Rock the Vote’s own leading-edge mobile and digital registration tool.

“Rock the Vote is thrilled to be participating in the Global Citizen Festival Action Summit,” said Ashley Spillane, president of Rock the Vote. “The central mission of the Action Summit is to encourage New Yorkers, especially the Millennial generation, to make their voices heard. We are excited to be part of those efforts and empower attendees to register to vote and cast their ballots in the upcoming midterm elections.”
