Rock the Vote and Spread the Vote Guarantee IDs for Young Voters

Rock the Vote, the premier youth civic engagement organization, is partnering with non-profit Spread the Vote to ensure that the thousands of voters who register with Rock the Vote will have the ID they need in states that require it this November.

“New voters need elections to be completely accessible,” said Jen Tolentino, director of policy and civic technology at Rock the Vote. “Through our partnership with Spread the Vote, we are taking our registration program to the next level by ensuring that all the young Americans will be able to participate in the democratic process, no matter the hoops anti-voter politicians have put before them.”

Rock the Vote is a pioneer in online voter registration, having registered over 7 million voters in the past decade. The organization’s technology tailors the registration process to the registrants’ jurisdiction and will connect those who don’t have an ID when they register, but need one to vote, with Spread the Vote to get the documentation they need.

“Spread the Vote is thrilled to work with Rock the Vote to ensure that every registered voter has the ID they need to go to the polls,” said Kat Calvin, founder of Spread the Vote. “Rock the Vote understands that registering voters is only the first part of the job and with our partnership we’ll be able to make sure that every vote counts.”

Spread the Vote is currently targeting voters in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia to get the IDs they need every day of the year–plus election day–free of charge.

Through this unique partnership, many more Americans will be able to make their voices heard. The thousands of new voters who register with Rock the Vote will get the resources they need to obtain an ID for election day and every day.
