ROCK THE VOTE’S ROAD TRIP TEAMS UP WITH BOW WOW’S WALK ACROSS AMERICA CAMPAIGN
Rock the Vote announced today a partnership with superstar recording artist and actor, Bow Wow to target key states in the weeks leading up to the 2008 presidential election. Bow Wow’s Walk Across America Campaign is joining Rock the Vote’s Road Trip to gather pledges to vote and educate youth about early voting opportunities in Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
This year Rock the Vote is forging the largest youth voter registration campaign in history and has reached this historic milestone with more than 2.5 million individuals registering to vote through www.rockthevote.org. Rock the Vote’s Road Trip is a state-of-the-art mobile road show reaching out to the nation’s youth traversing key states and fully maximizing voter turnout, education and engagement efforts by staging high profile events featuring musical talent and speakers.
To date, Rock the Vote’s Road Trip has made amazing progress with stops in over 25 key cities, teaming up with talent including Solange, Talib Kweli, RhymeFest, Trevor Menear, Murs, the Flobots, Pete Yorn, Santogold and Jazmine Sullivan. The tour kicked off September 13 and has been registering voters, gathering pledges to vote and educating youth about early voting and election protection across America. Rock the Vote will wrap up the Road Trip tour on November 3 in Denver, Colorado with a performance by the Beastie Boys and Tenacious D.
Bow Wow, who is launching his Follow The Leader foundation this year, felt that it was important for him to become personally involved in this historical election and to help motivate other young people to become engaged in the process. “It’s important for the youth to participate because we’re tomorrow’s leaders,” says Bow Wow. We need to make sure that our voices are heard and have a say in the decisions that will affect our lives and our country for years to come.”
